To bring a dog into Serbia, you must fulfill specific veterinary requirements before boarding your flight. The entry process depends entirely on whether you're arriving from an EU country or a non-EU country.
Standard baseline requirements:
- Microchip: Your dog must have a 15-digit ISO-compliant microchip, implanted before or on the same day as the rabies vaccine.
- Rabies vaccine: Must be valid and administered at least 21 to 30 days before arrival, depending on your origin country's rules. Your dog must be at least 12 weeks old to receive it.
Required documentation:
- From the EU: You only need a standard, up-to-date EU Pet Passport that clearly documents the microchip and valid rabies vaccination.
- From outside the EU: You need an official Non-Commercial Movement Health Certificate issued by a licensed veterinarian. This must be officially endorsed and stamped by your home country's federal agricultural authority (like the USDA in the US or CFIA in Canada) within 10 days of travel.
The rabies titer test rule:
- High-risk countries: If you're flying into Belgrade from a country designated high-risk for rabies, your dog must pass a rabies blood titer test (FAVN).
